Why I love South Africa

I am proudly South African. You may wonder what this is all about, well in approximately 10 days time the much awaited World Cup starts here. Many visitors will be coming to this beautiful country of ours.
I love living here because it is a land of wide open spaces, wonderful weather and colourful people.
I have lived here my whole life and would not move by choice. We are blessed with so many things. While I know crime plays a huge part in this country, I don't think it is any worse than any other country these days. Racism is not only rife here, but in plenty of other places around the world.
We were taught from an early age to respect people of all colour. My parents made no distinction. Unfortunately you are always going to find the individuals who take pleasure in harming others. We are not untouched by crime. Friends of mine have been murdered, my daughter has been mugged, our previous home was broken into and many other small incidents. yet through all this God has protected us and kept us safe.
When my daughter was mugged, there were amazing people who raced to our assistance, putting their own safety at risk.
South Africa has much to offer. Our beaches are amongst the best in the world, the hospitality you will come across is legendary, game farms abound with many different animals.
Many people are going all out to welcome visitors to this country of ours. The excitement mounts daily.
To be honest I am not a soccer fan at all, but I will enter into the spirit of the game and support my country.
Finally there is a wonderful scripture which is very much part of me and that is God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, peace and a sound mind. 2Tim 1:7 This is a comfort to me in the darkest times, knowing that as long as I keep my mind on Him, it will be sound and i need not fear that which the devil might try to bring into our lives.

  2. 2Tim. 1:7 is one of my favorite verses. Thank you for the info about the upcoming soccer event. I like your comment about the fact that you are not a soccer fan, and yet you will enter into the spirit of the game and support your country.
